Bantwal: Olympic athlete Sahana Nagaraj encourages success through practice

Bantwal, Dec 3: "It is truly a proud moment that Deepika High School has completed 60 years. The school provides an environment conducive to sports, and anything is achievable through continuous practice," said Sahana Nagaraj, Olympic athlete.

Sahana was speaking after receiving the sports torch for the junior and senior students' sports meet at Modankap Deepika High School, celebrating the school's diamond jubilee.

Retired physical education director Purushottam Poojary hoisted the flag, while national Kabaddi player Amarnath Rai received the guard of honor.

Shivaprasad Shetty, president of the diamond jubilee sports committee, also spoke on the occasion. Supreet Alva, national level volleyball player, flagged off the sports torch from the Lions Clubs of B C Road. Fr. Valerian D’Souza, correspondent of Deepika High School, inaugurated the function.

The event was presided over by Divakara Shetty, president of the sports committee. Sadashiva Thumbe administered the oath. The event was attended by Rakesh Malli, president of the diamond jubilee committee, Rajesh Salian, president of the old students' association, Sadhu, head teacher, Ahswini Kumar Rai, trustee of Deepika High School, and Ratan Shetty, president of the Amateur Kabaddi Association.

Support was provided by Roshan D’Souza, secretary of the diamond jubilee committee, Shivaprasad Prabhu, trustee Mohammed Valavoor, Jaison Monteiro, Prof Govardhan Rao, Satish Bhandary, Sathish Pallamajalu, Ronald Fernandes, Divakar Shetty, Mohammed Hanif, Ramakrishna Alva, teacher Shalini, Satish Shetty Modankap, Harish Salian, and Roney Bantwal.
