AMRI Fire: Manik Sarkar Seeks Mamata's Help


Agartala, Dec 18 (IANS): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar urged his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee to help trace a Tripura man who went missing after the AMRI Hospital fire nine days ago.

Banerjee's help has been sought to track down Santosh Das, whose family is distraught, an official told reporters here Sunday.

Santosh, 25, fractured his left leg in an accident in Tripura Nov 30. He was subsequently taken to Kolkata for treatment.

Santosh was admitted to the AMRI Hospital Dec 1. He was operated upon Dec 5. After the Dec 9 fire tragedy, he has been untraceable.

"I met Mamata Banerjee several times and searched 21 hospitals and some morgues but could not find my brother," Santosh's younger brother Paritosh Das told IANS.
