Mangaluru: Private buses fail to comply with door installation directive

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 10: Despite repeated directives from deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Mullai Mugilan to install doors on all private buses by December 10 to ensure passenger safety, complaints of non-compliance continue to surface.

Last month, during the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting chaired by the DC, the issue was extensively discussed. It was decided that all private buses, excluding city transport buses from Mangaluru, must install doors by the stipulated deadline.

Although the directive has been issued several times, private bus operators have largely failed to adhere to it. Authorities have now urged immediate action to implement the installation of doors on private buses.

For city transport buses in Mangaluru, measures to install doors will be considered in the coming days, according to decisions made during the RTA meeting.
