Oakville, Dec 11: The Canara World Foundation (CWF) hosted its much-anticipated Christmas Potluck Party on Sunday, December 8, at 5 pm at the Canara Cultural Centre, 2415 Rebecca Street, Oakville. This annual tradition, revitalized post-pandemic, has become a highlight of the festive season, bringing together the Konkani Catholic community for an evening of joy, connection, and celebration.
The Canara Cultural Centre, inaugurated in 2019, was established to promote Konkani heritage, culture, and language. As a vibrant hub for cultural and community events, it continues to preserve and celebrate traditions.
This year’s Christmas celebration featured memorable moments, including caroling, lively music, dancing, games, spot prizes for all ages, and a 50/50 raffle. A special highlight was the appearance of Santa Claus, who delighted children with gifts, danced with attendees, and spread holiday cheer before his journey back to the North Pole.
Guests were warmly welcomed by committee member Jennifer Mendes. President Max Mendes delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Fr Ranjan for his spiritual guidance and for generously providing the venue for CWF events. He also thanked guests for their contributions of delicious food, the DJs, emcees, and volunteers for their efforts, and gave special recognition to sponsors Miriam and Flavian Pinto, Nancy and Max Mendes, Jennifer and Arun Mendes, Dorothy and Rony Rego, and Anita and Jerald Moraes, whose support made the event possible.
The evening’s entertainment was expertly managed by DJs Joyson and Ronan D’Souza, while emcees Meghan Pereira and Ronan D’Souza kept the audience engaged throughout the program.
The event’s success was attributed to the dedication of the CWF committee members, including:
• Max and Nancy Mendes
