PMAY-U 2.0: Over 8 lac houses constructed, says MP CM Mohan Yadav

Bhopal, Dec 12 (IANS): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday said 10 lakh homes have been approved under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) 2.0, of which, construction of 8.25 houses has been completed.

He claimed the state has remained in the leading position in the country during the entire period of implementation of the first phase of PMAY in urban areas.

"Out of the total amount of Rs 43,300 crore needed for the first phase of house construction, Rs 22,800 crore has been released to the beneficiaries so far. Of this, Rs 23,600 crore has been received from the Centre," Yadav said.

CM Yadav said this while addressing a gathering in Ujjain during the launch of 'Jan Kalyan Parv' on completion of one year of his government in Madhya Pradesh.

He claimed that many urban bodies of the state have even received awards at the national level for effective implementation of the PMAY scheme and other public beneficiaries of the Centre and the state government.

He asserted that the credit for the effective implementation of PMAY (2.0) in the first phase goes to the many innovations made by the state government to provide housing at minimum rates.

He further stated that benefits of this scheme will be given to those beneficiaries who have not received the benefit of the housing scheme for some reason.

Meanwhile, state Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said he has instructed field staff of the department for the effective implementation of the scheme.

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0, a flagship of the Centre was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, this year.

Under this scheme, the Centre has target set a target to construct one crore houses in the country, out of which, 10 lakh houses would be in Madhya Pradesh.
