Udupi, Dec 12: The department of cardiology, KMC Manipal, and the department of cardiovascular technology (CVT), MCHP MAHE Manipal, recently celebrated the 15th year crystal jubilee of the Manipal Cardiology Update. This milestone event was marked by insightful discussions, academic exchanges, and a tribute to the pioneers of cardiology.
The theme for this year’s conference was heart failure, with eminent speakers from prestigious institutions delivering talks on various aspects of this critical topic. The conference began with a floral tribute to the founder of MAHE, Dr TMA Pai, and the late Dr SGS Prabhu, the former and founding head of the department of cardiology at KMC Manipal who passed away recently. To encourage research and innovation among young scientists, the event featured original paper and poster presentations, with awards given for the best contributions. A cardiology quiz for postgraduate students added an engaging and competitive edge to the conference.
The inaugural function was presided over by Dr Padmaraj Hegde, dean of KMC Manipal. Dr Shiran Shetty, deputy medical superintendent, was present. The organizing chairman, Dr Padmakumar, professor and HOD of cardiology, welcomed the gathering, while organizing secretary Dr Kanhaiah Lalalni expressed gratitude with a vote of thanks. Dr Krishnananda Nayak, another organizing secretary, along with prominent cardiologists such as Dr Vijayalakshmi, Dr V S Prakash, Dr Prabhavathi, Dr B V Manjunath, and Dr Subramanyam, graced the event with their presence.
The crystal jubilee celebration underscored the commitment of KMC Manipal and MCHP MAHE Manipal to advancing cardiovascular education, research, and patient care.
