Bantwal, Dec 14: A gas cylinder thief was caught red-handed by the public in Vitla after his theft was captured on CCTV.
The incident occurred in Kundadka Hadiyalu, where the thief, identified as Ashraf (alias Achchu) from Odyadka, was seen stealing a gas cylinder from Praveen's house.
Upon learning about the theft, locals used the footage to track down the thief, cornering him in Berike.
After a brief confrontation, the public handed him over to the police, having reportedly beaten him in the process.
Vitla police quickly arrived at the scene, seized the stolen cylinder, and initiated an investigation.
