Mumbai, Dec 16: The 25th edition of the Ryan Minithon, one of the largest minithons for school students in the country, took place on December 15 in Mumbai. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 10,000 students from schools across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane.
The race was flagged off from St Lawrence High School, Borivali, by Dr Snehal Pinto, director of the Ryan Group of Schools, along with distinguished guests from various walks of life in attendance.
Sporty students from U-12, U-14, and U-16 categories excitedly ran along the 2-km, 3-km, and 4-km minithon routes, cheered on by teachers, scouts, guides, and RSP students from all participating schools, who formed a continuous human chain along the route.
Since 1998, the Ryan International Group of Schools, mentored by founder-chairman Dr A F Pinto and managing director Dr Grace Pinto, has been hosting such races in Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mumbai, Mangaluru, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Surat, Raipur, and Nashik, with the vision of providing students a platform to discover their talents in sports, promote health, and excel in games and sports at various levels.
A large number of distinguished alumni from the Ryan Group of Schools came together for the alumni walk to honour a significant milestone in the Ryan Minithon, celebrating its successful 25-year journey. As they walked the route, proudly waving the Ryan flag, they created a vibrant and festive atmosphere for the event.
Winners from different age groups were recognized in a scintillating prize distribution ceremony attended by a number of distinguished guests from various fields. The cultural programme, featuring dance, music, and songs, further enriched the joyous celebration. As the programme drew to a close, the song "Feliz Navidad" filled the air, heralding the festive spirit of Christmas.
The winners of the 25th Ryan Minithon of the Mumbai division are as follows:
- St Xavier's High School, Naigaon won the championship trophy.
- Ryan Christian School, Borivali claimed the first runner-up trophy.
- St Xavier's High School, Virar secured the second runner-up trophy
