Mumbai, Dec 18: Noted entrepreneur and philanthropist Vakwadi Praveen Shetty, recipient of prestigious awards such as the Mayura Award, Aryabhata Award, and Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, has been elected as the new president of the UAE Bunts Sangha. The election took place during a recently convened meeting of the association.
Born on July 6, 1967, in Vakwadi, Kundapur taluk of Udupi district, Praveen is the son of Narayana Shetty and Sarojini Shetty. From a young age, he displayed brilliance in academics and extracurricular activities, shaped by the strong values instilled by his parents.
After completing his BSc from Government College, Koteshwar, and Bhandarkars College, Kundapur, Praveen’s determined focus and vision led him to the UAE. He began his entrepreneurial journey by launching the Fortune Hotel under a partnership model, marking a turning point in his career. His ambitious spirit soon saw him establish his own chain, the Fortune Group of Hotels. Through perseverance and hard work, he expanded his business, adding one success to another, ultimately creating a strong foothold for the Fortune Group of Hotels.
Despite his demanding business commitments, Praveen remained deeply committed to social welfare. Known for his community-centric initiatives, he has actively supported blood donation camps and provided aid to the needy, earning recognition as an enthusiastic youth social worker. Praveen has tirelessly worked to unite members of his community, organizing discussions and fostering collective efforts to preserve and promote the cultural heritage and traditions of Tulunadu.
Praveen has also served as the president of the Karnataka NR Forum UAE, contributing valuable services to the diaspora. He has held significant positions in several NRI organizations formed by Tulu-speaking Kannadigas while simultaneously advancing his hotel business. Known for his generosity and philanthropy, he has been a staunch supporter of the Bunt community globally, contributing to various Bunt associations and federations.
His election as the president of the UAE Bunts Sangha is seen as a significant boost for the organization, adding another jewel to his illustrious crown of achievements.
