Mangalore, Dec 22: “Even though the college was closed for sometime due to financial reasons, afterwards it has seen an overall development in the growth of the college. With as many as 1,700 students, the institution has seen cent percent results in academics,” said Dr R Rathi Devi, professor, department of OBG, KMC, Mangalore.
She was the chief guest at the annual day celebration of Capitanio Composite PU College, held at the college hall on Wednesday December 21. In her address, she spoke about the importance of having a balance between education, diet, and dress.
She explained how junk food can harm young students and referred to how dress and shoes had become more important than personality and education in today’s society. Dr Rathi Devi also donated Rs 10,000 to the college to provide scholarship to students for education purposes.
Fr Mathew Vas, parish priest, Guardian Angel Church, Angelore, who also shared the dais, lauded the efforts of the staff and management in providing high quality education with discipline and for giving importance to extra-curricular activities. He blessed everyone to continue the same mission for the welfare of the society.
Sr Humbeline, correspondent, Capitanio Institutions, in her presidential address, said that along with education, discipline and values of life are also necessary. It is to be taught to students at this juncture as PU is the turning point of everyone’s life and their decision to step into the right future.
Prize distribution, dances, and singing were a part of the annual day event. M Harriet Pinto, principal, welcomed the gathering. Rashmi Kiran proposed the vote of thanks and Manith compered the event.
