Mangaluru, Dec 19: Lokayukta police apprehended revenue inspector G S Dinesh red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lac to process the addition of heirs' names to a property near Suratkal Junction on December 19.
According to reports, the complainant’s grandmother, Padmavathi, had passed away, and the complainant approached the Mulky taluk tahsildar’s office last year to update the names of heirs in the property’s RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops). The application was forwarded to the office of the Mulky revenue inspector, but G S Dinesh allegedly failed to act on it for over a year.
On December 9, when the complainant visited the revenue inspector’s office to inquire about the application's status, Dinesh allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 4 lac to process it. The complainant reported this demand to the Lokayukta police station.
Acting on the complaint, Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught Dinesh red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant near Suratkal Junction on Thursday, December 19. The revenue inspector has been taken into custody by the Lokayukta team.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of M A Nataraj, SP, Karnataka Lokayukta Mangaluru. The team conducting the operation included ASP Dr Gana P Kumar, inspector Amanullah A, Suresh Kumar P, Chandrashekhar K N, and other officials.
