Mangaluru: 39th ‘Expert Day’ marks chairman’s 60th birth year

Mangaluru, Dec 21: “Only if you understand and connect with what you are learning, will you learn something. The goal is not about becoming something, it is about standing for your goals,” said Mullai Muhilan M P, IAS, deputy commissioner of DK, Mangaluru.

The event was also attended by the eminent cardiologist, Dr Padmanabha Kamath who inaugurated the grandiose 39th Expert Day celebration of Expert PU College, Kodialbail on December 19.

A flag-hoisting ceremony held at the college premises set the gears into motion. An alumnus of Expert College, Dr Skanda Moorthy, neurosurgeon presided over the inaugural, saying, “The world outside is way stricter than it is at Expert. Student life here can help you crack the chapter called life.”

The chairman, in his address to the students, said, “The discipline you have imbibed now will take you further in life.” In a rousing speech, the vice-chairperson honoured the founding stones of the institution, saying, “It is not just us two pillars, but the students, staff for the last 38 years who form the thousand pillars of the temple of education in our institution."

The main event was truly set into motion in the evening with a formal programme. The principal, Prof Ramachandra Bhat, presented the annual report for the year 2023-24. In line with Expert day tradition, the previous year’s rank holders were felicitated and the scholastic, non-scholastic, and ‘Expert Super Star’ awards were presented to deserving students.

An extravagant event oozing with talent, EX-Fiesta left the audience in awe. The melodious strains of the Swaradhara team, left everyone swaying along. There were various dance performances, including a vibrant depiction of Rajasthani culture, Yakshagana – Sudarshana Vijaya, the traditional Kodava dance, Mime show and the funky beats of the Western dancers.

Roopaka, a stunning drama depicting the story of the deity, Ayappa, made the atmosphere all the more pious. The grand finale was the inspiring dance- drama depicting the journey of Expert's founder and chairman, Prof Narendra L Nayak. The performance was indeed a fitting tribute to the man who started it all as he celebrated his 60th birth year.

The event was attended by the proprietor of keystone architecture, Deepika A Nayak, trustee and eminent musician, Ustad Rafique Khan, and principal of Expert PU College, Valachil Campus, Dr N K Vijayan. IT director Ankush N Nayak, welcomed the gathering and the programme director, Bharath Chandra delivered the vote of thanks.

The event was headed by the incredible masters of ceremonies, Trisha, Navneeth Pai, Deeksha Shenoy, Daniel, Jovila, Soudhriti and Nireeksha. All in all, Expert Day- 2024 was a glorious success, a testament to the talent nurtured at Expert.
