Kundapur: Ambergris sale racket – Four arrested for assaulting forest officials

Kundapur, Dec 22: Police have arrested four individuals for assaulting Forest CID officials during a raid at Sauharda Bhavan in Yenkodi near Kodi, suspected to be involved in an ambergris (whale vomit) sale racket.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Aboobaker (50), Hasainar (57), and Ubaidullah (40), all residents of Kodi, and Mohammed Ali (50), a resident of Byndoor. They were produced before the court and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.

On the afternoon of December 18, a forest mobile squad led by SI Janaki conducted a raid at Sauharda Bhavan following a tip-off about an illegal ambergris sale. During the raid, the suspects tied up the officials and assaulted them, causing injuries.

SI Janaki subsequently filed a complaint with the police. A case has been registered at Kundapur police station against the accused, including Jayakara, Ratnakara, Aboobaker, Asif, and three others.

    When any police official is not in uniform and performing under cover operation, it is their duty to first ID card.... If don't show id card then will get bumpy ride by whoever it may be if try to stop or indulge in their activities (good or bad)
