Mangaluru, Dec 23: Jeevandhara Social Service Trust hosted the much-awaited Sauharda Koota event on December 21, at Sacred Heart School Hall, Kulshekar, bringing together members of the local community in an atmosphere of unity, peace, and celebration. The event was attended by a diverse group, including SHG women, hostel children, Tailoring students from Jeevandhara Social Service Center, social coordinators from local communities and BLA representatives.
The occasion commenced with a prayer song led by Sadhana SHG and a wonderful welcome was offered with a welcome dance performed by Jeevandhara Social Service Center. Sr Flavia Wilma, the coordinator for Social Apostolate accorded a genial welcome to al present with her loving words, setting the tone for the day's events. The cultural programme, a highlight of the celebration, showcased performances by the hostel students, SHG women especially, Shanthi SHG, and the candidates from Maryvale Convent, Kinnigoli, reflecting the vibrant spirit of the community. Entertaining games were conducted by Sr Reena Thoras.
A special stage programme included three eminent speakers and chief guests, each sharing their thoughts on living in peace and harmony in today’s society. Brahma Kumari Vishveshwari delivered a motivating address, urging the audience to focus on the soul as the Supreme guide and embrace everyone as brothers and sisters. Mohammad Rafeeq, in his heartfelt speech, expressed gratitude to the Catholic community for their selfless service and the high motivation to provide holistic education to the youth. He encouraged everyone to become instruments of peace and harmony in the society through the example of a needle which stitches two pieces of fabric into a single, people can come together despite their differences and create something greater. By working in harmony, individuals can overcome challenges and build a more cohesive and supportive society. Br Nishith Lobo further emphasized the significance of Christmas, reminding the audience of the importance of living in harmony with one another.
Dr Sr Lilly Pereira, the president of the programme emphasized through a story on compassion and love which can change the face of humanity. We have the potential to transform our society into a more humane one, one that is based on empathy, care, and understanding of one another.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Sr Ilene Joy, expressing appreciation to everyone involved in making the event a success. Alice Lobo compered the day’s program. With her charming presence and impeccable organization, she guided the programme smoothly from start to finish.
To conclude the celebration, a sumptuous meal was served to all attendees, fostering further unity and camaraderie among the members. The Sauharda Koota event was a resounding success, reaffirming the spirit of peace, harmony, and togetherness that is essential for a better society.
