Curtain raiser for Mangalore Beach Festival, Triathlon-2025 held

Mangaluru, Dec 23: The curtain raiser for the third edition of the Mangalore Beach Festival and Mangalore Triathlon-2025 was held on Saturday, December 23, at the Ocean Pearl Hotel. The event was organized by the Tapasya Foundation.

The inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp. The Mangalore Beach Festival is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 2, 2025.

Speaking on the occasion, district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundurao praised Dakshina Kannada for its cultural harmony and progressiveness. "This district exemplifies unity among people of different castes, languages, and religions. The event not only showcases our culture but also emphasizes sports. The Tapasya Foundation’s noble efforts deserve commendation, and we pledge the district administration’s full support to ensure the event’s success," he said.

Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada, Capt Brijesh Chowta, also expressed his support, stating, "This event, organized with a focus on social welfare, is commendable. I wish the organizers success and promise to actively participate in such initiatives."

In her introductory address, Tapasya Foundation founder Sabitha R Shetty outlined the foundation’s purpose. "Established in 2019, the Tapasya Foundation provides end-of-life care for cancer patients in Dakshina Kannada. Through collaboration with the Lions Club, we currently serve over 150 patients. This third edition of the event aims to raise funds to set up a fully equipped care center to benefit even more patients," she said.

Several dignitaries, including Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan, district panchayat chief executive officer Dr Anand K, Congress leader A C Vinay Raj, police commissioner Anupam Agrawal, and others, attended the event.
