Mangaluru, Dec 24: The vibrant premises of Lourdes Central School transformed into a festive haven, as students, staff, and esteemed guests gathered to celebrate the joyous occasion of Christmas on December 23. The event, infused with warmth and reverence, was a harmonious blend of spirituality, creativity, and merriment.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome extended by the hosts, followed by a serene Prayer Song and heartfelt intentions, setting the tone for the day. Zion Noronha of class 6B graced the stage with a soulful welcome address, reminding everyone of the joy and love that Christmas symbolizes.
Pranav Ajit of class 6A enlightened the audience with the significance of Christmas, reflecting on the virtues of hope and giving. The highlight of the day, the live crib presentation, brought by the tiny tots of classes 1 and 2, captivated hearts as they depicted the Nativity scene with innocence and charm.
The celebration continued with the Carol singing by students from classes 5 to 9, filling the air with melodious hymns that praised the new born Saviour. This was followed by a heart-warming skit performed by students of classes 4B and 5C, re-enacting the story of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem.
Adding a lively touch to the celebration, the entire class 4A took to the stage with an exuberant dance performance that showcased the festive spirit of Christmas. The event also featured a stage programme, where dignitaries, including the esteemed chief guest Dr Ivan D’Souza head of chair in Christianity, Mangalore University, shared inspiring messages and felicitated winners of various competitions like candle-making, wreath-making, and Christmas tree decoration.
The programme concluded with a moving vote of thanks by Tisha Kotian of class 6C and the much-awaited visit of Santa Claus, whose jolly demeanour and jingling bells brought smiles to every face. The event culminated with the singing of the school Anthem, leaving everyone immersed in the spirit of love, joy, and unity that Christmas brings.
A significant highlight of the celebration was the visit to the senior priests at St Zuze Vaz Home for retired Priests, where the organizing committee presented them with the programme and gifts as a token of respect. The priests' wisdom and blessings made the experience deeply inspiring, adding a spiritual dimension to the event and highlighting the values of gratitude and compassion.
