Udupi, Dec 26: The mortal remains of martyr soldier Anoop Poojary, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir, were brought to Udupi with full military honours on Thursday.

Member of Parliament (MP) Kota Srinivas Poojary received the soldier’s body at Mangalore International Airport and oversaw its dignified transfer to Udupi. The remains were initially kept at the Government Hospital in Udupi for religious rituals and public viewing.

This morning, the body will be moved to Tekkatte in Kundapur taluk. A ceremonial procession has been planned from Tekkatte to the martyr’s family home in Bijadi village, offering the public an opportunity to pay their respects to the valiant hero.

Rituals will take place at the family residence in Bijadi, followed by a public homage ceremony at Bijadi School. Special arrangements have been made at the school for locals to offer their final respects.

The funeral rites are scheduled to be performed near the seashore adjacent to the school. All preparations have been meticulously planned to ensure a dignified farewell to the brave soldier.

Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta, along with senior army officers, accompanied the mortal remains as part of the solemn proceedings, honouring the sacrifice of the fallen hero.
