Udupi, Dec 26: Students from Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) achieved a remarkable third place in the prestigious IEEE Eu-Reka 2024 competition, organised by the IEEE Pune section, which aims to promote inclusive and equitable quality education while fostering lifelong learning opportunities.
Representing SMVITM were Pratham L Kamath from the AIDS department and Nandish P B from the AIML department, along with Nishitha B Rao and Keerthana S Hebbar from the CSE separtment.
The team presented on the theme, "Technologies for environment, climate change, sustainability, and natural disasters," focusing on educating students about critical environmental issues and sustainable technologies.
As part of their groundwork, they visited four schools two rural and two urbans including St Lawrence Pre-University Kannada Medium High School, Adi Udupi High School, Mahadevi High School, and GPUC Palli where they conducted interactive sessions using videos, images, PowerPoint presentations, and case studies to actively engage students.
Competing against more than 100 teams, the SMVITM team made it to the final 15 and delivered their impactful presentation at the grand finale held on December 15 at the Hotel Ramee Grand, Pune, ultimately securing the third-place position.
Their success highlights SMVITM’s commitment to excellence in academics, social engagement, and innovation, serving as an inspiration for students to address global challenges through education and collaboration.
