Bantwal: Thieves Strike When Family Away at Mass

Bantwal, Dec 26: Thieves looted a house located in Periyar in Allipade, Navoor village in the taluk on the night of Saturday December 24, and decamped with cash and gold worth Rs 1.90 lac.

The family of Charlie D’Souza was away attending Christmas Mass at the local church at the time of the incident. The thieves gained entry by breaking open the front door.

The family, after returning home from the church, realized that their valuables had been burgled. The thieves had broken open the cupboard found in one of the rooms, and stolen Rs 30,000 in cash, besides 70 grams of gold ornaments, totally valued at Rs 1.90 lac.

A complaint was filed in rural police station here. Personnel of the station visited the house along with sniffer dogs and finger print experts. Investigation has been undertaken.
