Udupi: Police announce route diversions ahead of New Year rush

Udupi, Dec 27: In view of the New Year and year-end holidays, the city is experiencing heavy traffic congestion. To ensure smoother traffic flow, the police have implemented the following route changes:

For goods and light vehicles

Vehicles traveling from Manipal to Mangaluru or Kapu should use the route via Sharada Kalyana Mantapa.

Kalsanka junction

  1. Vehicles coming from Gundibail should turn near Kadiyali and proceed towards Krishna Math and Udupi.
  2. Vehicles traveling from Manipal to Gundibail should take a turn near the City Bus Stand.

Karavali junction

  1. Vehicles coming from Malpe should turn left at Karavali, travel via the service road, take a U-turn near Nittur (opposite Aabharana Motors), and proceed towards the city.
  2. All vehicles, except those heading towards Malpe, coming from Mangaluru should take a U-turn near Nittur (opposite Aabharana Motors) and proceed to Udupi.

Malpe

Vehicles returning from Malpe Beach should take the route via Balarama Circle, passing through Hoode and Nejaru, and join the National Highway at Santhekatte.

These regulations will be in effect from December 28 to January 1, daily between 4 PM and 9 PM.

The public is requested to follow the designated routes and cooperate with the police to ensure smooth traffic management.
