Udupi, Dec 28: Adani Owned Adani Power Limited – Udupi TPP, which is operating a thermal power plant in Yellur village, Kaup taluk, Udupi district, in hands with its CSR wing Adani Foundation, today performed Bhoomi Pooja for 2 infrastructural development works under its CSR activity in the limits of Mudarangadi Grama Panchayat, Kaup taluk, Udupi district.
A Kachcha road measuring 320 meters length connecting from Kanjarakatte to Alu Brahmasthana in Santuru village and the court yard of Kankanagutti Kordabba Temple in Pilar village were taken-up for concreting at a project cost of Rs 17 lacs. The Bhoomi pooja for these 2 projects were formally performed by Kishore Alva, president and executive director of Adani Group and Namita, president of Mudarangadi Grama Panchayat in presence of members and villagers of Mudarangadi GP.
Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva informed that Adani Foundation has earmarked a grant exclusively for community infrastructure development works for 7 Grama Panchayats of vicinity of APL Plant, Udupi and every year it is implementing the infrastructure development works based on the annual action plan of respective GP.
In addition to the CSR initiatives in the field of education, health and promotion of rural sports and cultural events, Adani Foundation has earmarked a grant of Rs 4.65 cr exclusively for infrastructure development works for Mudarangadi GP.
Till date, Adani Foundation has already implemented the infrastructure works worth more than Rs 4 cr in Mudarangadi GP, Alva added. Over the past 9 years, the time when Udupi Power Plant was taken over by Adani Group, an average of Rs 4 cr is being spent annually for various social development projects in the plant vicinity, Alva added.
Later Namitha, president of Mudarangadi GP, informed that since there was huge demand by villagers of Pilar and Santuru for these works, the members have unanimously agreed to include the same in annual action plan for the FY 2024-25 and submitted to Adani Foundation for consideration for implementing through CSR. She thanked Adani Foundation for accepting the annual plan and expediting implementing the action plan.
