Dubai: Bhatkal Warriors Win BMJ Cricket Tourney

Dubai, Dec 26: Bhatkal Warriors won the Bhatkal Trophy tournament organized by Bhatkal Muslim Jamaath (BMJ), Dubai played here at Zabeel Park on Friday December 23.

Bhatkal warriors won the match beating Bhatkal Sports by five wickets.

The opening match of the tourney was played here on December 16, where in S M Syed Khaleel-ul-Rahman and Indian Spinner Harbhajan Singh payed visit during the match.

Harbhajan Singh was the main attraction on the first day of Bhatkal Cricket Tournament, the ‘spin-king’ sported an orange t-shirt as he walked into the grounds to a roaring cheer from the Bhatkalli crowd.

Harbhajan was presented a special memento on behalf of the community before he left.

The 10-over a side cricket tournament is open to Bhatkalli players of all age groups and a total of 10 teams played in the tourney.

The presentation ceremony began with the recitation of  Quran by Abdus Salam Ruknuddin.

President of Markaz Al Nawayath Abu Dhabi Mohammed Farooque Musba was guest of honour and BMJD president A K Basha presided over.

BMJD sports secretary Kashimji Yasir welcomed the gathering and Shariar Khateeb compered. Co-sponsors of the event were Sapil Style and UAE Exchange.


Scores of the first Match held on December 16:

Bhatkal Warriors ( 63 /6 ) beat Taha Challengers (52/8) .
Bhatkal Sports (68/2 )  beat Bhatkal Colts  (58/7 ).
Mushy Gushy ( 56/8 )  lost to  BCC Abu Dhabi (57/4 ).
Bhatkal Emirates (46/5) beat Amtek Ajman (37/7).


Scores of the finals held on December 23:

BCC Abu Dhabi ( 71/7) beat MK Bhatkal ( 39/5 ).
Bhatkal Emirates ( 53/8) beat Bhatkal Eagles ( 50/6).
First Semi Final -  BCC  Abudhabi ( 68/6) lost to Bhatkal Warriors ( 70/6).
2nd Semi Final- Bhatkal Emirates (61/7) lost to Bhatkal Sports ( 62/2 ).
FINAL- Bhatkal Sports (60/10 ) lost to Bhatkal Warriors (64/5).


Trophies given away were: 

Champions - Bhatkal Warriors - Captain - Muheeb Ruknuddin - Prize AED 1111 Cash + Trophy
Runners Up - Bhatkal Sports - Captain Waseem KM - Prize AED 777 Cash + Trophy
