Mangaluru: City police set up check posts, file 25 drink-and-drive cases

Mangaluru, Jan 1: To ensure safety and curb traffic violations ahead of the New Year, the Mangaluru City Police set up check posts across city limits.

The police had earlier urged the public to avoid drinking and driving, refrain from rash driving, and wear seat belts while driving.

As part of the operation, the police checked 555 vehicles across four traffic police station jurisdictions and registered 25 cases of drink-and-drive violations.

The breakdown of cases is as follows:

  • Mangaluru South Traffic Police: 6 cases
  • Mangaluru North Traffic Police: 11 cases
  • Mangaluru West Traffic Police: 5 cases
  • Mangaluru East Traffic Police: 3 cases

The police continue to emphasize the importance of following traffic rules to ensure public safety.
