Udupi, Jan 2: Prof Melvin D’Souza, vice principal of Moodlakatte Institute of Technology, Kundapur, has been awarded with doctorate for his thesis titled ‘Early Detection of breast cancer using thermal images based on deep learning techniques’, by Vishweshwaraiah Technological University Belgavi.
Dr Melvin research leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence to identify breast cancer in its early stages using thermal imaging. The outcomes of his research have been published in prestigious international scientific journals, receiving acclaim for their potential to advance early cancer detection methods.
The research was conducted under the mentorship of Dr Ananth Prabhu G, a renowned cyber security expert and professor at Sahyadri Engineering College's computer science department.
Dr Melvin, hailing from Merdi in Basrur, Kundapura, is the youngest son of the late Peter D’Souza and Stella D’Souza.
His remarkable achievement has been applauded by Siddhartha J Shetty, president of IMJ Educational Institutions, and Dr Abdul Kareem, principal of Moodlakatte Institute of Technology, who congratulated him and extended their best wishes for future endeavors.
