Mysuru, Jan 5: Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy has alleged that there was rampant corruption even in distribution of houses to poor under the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government and claimed that the extent of corruption was as high as 60%.
The JD(S) leader, who visited the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru on Sunday, told media persons that even the Congress workers have admitted to the corruption in the distribution of houses to poor.
“If the Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) were guilty of corruption in the past, now the ministers are openly accepting bribes,” he said asking: “whether is this the latest model of Satyameva Jayate under Congress?”
He mocked at the Congress for restricting the slogan, Satyameva Jayate, to advertisements and said “there is no limit to corruption under Siddaramaiah regime.”
The plight of contractors has become pathetic, he said and claimed that the contractors who were supporting Congress in the past are now saying that the previous BJP regime was much better. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress party will have to pay a heavy price for its lapses, he warned.
Kumaraswamy alleged that the Congress government was trying to find excuses to stop its guarantees as the government is unable to finance them. The recent hike in bus fares by 15% and the plans to effect similar increases in power and water tariffs were indications of the precarious financial position of the government, he added.
