Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar criticizes state govt’s surrender package for naxalites

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (JD)

Karkala, Jan 8: The state government's decision to offer a surrender package to six naxalites has drawn criticism, with Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar questioning the basis and justification for the move.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, Sunil Kumar demanded clarity from the government, stating, "On what grounds has this surrender package been extended? Every time Siddaramaiah assumes power, it appears that leniency towards Naxalites and extremists increases. They are granted forgiveness, cases against them are withdrawn, and they receive unwarranted privileges."

He further questioned the implications of the decision, asking, "Is the government legitimizing their violent actions and enabling them to transition into urban Naxalites with a free license for subversive activities? The once-tranquil Malnad region, known as the workplace of national poet Kuvempu, is now tainted by the echoes of gunfire. What message does this send to our police force and their morale?"
