Parliament Panel debates simultaneous polls

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 8: The parliamentary panel reviewing two bills on simultaneous elections held its first meeting. BJP members backed the ‘one nation, one election’ concept, citing national interest, while opposition MPs from Congress and TMC questioned its impact on democratic rights and the Constitution.

Headed by BJP MP PP Chaudhary, the 39-member committee includes representatives from major parties like Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (Congress) and Sanjay Jha (JD-U). The panel is examining the Constitution (129th amendment) Bill and the Union Territories Laws (amendment) Bill introduced in the winter session.

Expanded from 31 to 39 members, the committee aims to address political concerns and the feasibility of simultaneous polls.

It’s anti constitutional. This way BJP has been amending the constitution since 2014 yet in an anti constitutional and unparliamentary method. The laws and rights which were stipulated in the constitution amended by BJP doesn’t stand verified and legal in the court of law and rejected as soon as they reach the court doors as it’s not in their law book.
