Chhattisgarh: Four dead, several trapped in steel plant silo collapse

Mungeli, Jan 9: In a devastating incident, four workers lost their lives and at least four others are feared trapped following the collapse of a silo at a steel plant in Chhattisgarh's Mungeli district on Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred at the Kusum Steel plant in Saragaon, according to Mungeli.

Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel. The towering cylindrical iron structure, used to store bulk materials, gave way, trapping around eight workers at the site.

Upon receiving information, police teams rushed to the location and initiated a rescue operation to retrieve those trapped beneath the debris. Efforts to locate the missing workers continue as the situation remains tense.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse, which has raised concerns over safety protocols at the plant. Further updates are awaited.
