New Delhi, Jan 10: India extended humanitarian aid to Cuba on Friday, following the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Rafael last year.
The category 3 hurricane, which struck the island nation in November, left hundreds of homes destroyed, severely impacted the power grid, and caused widespread infrastructural damage.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced, “Vishwabandhu Bharat sends humanitarian assistance for the people of Cuba,” as a shipment of essential medicines departed for the Caribbean nation.
The aid package includes antibiotics, antipyretics, painkillers, ORS, and muscle relaxants, aimed at supporting Cuba’s recovery efforts in the aftermath of the devastating storm.
This gesture reinforces India’s commitment to global solidarity and support for nations in crisis.
