23 rescued, several trapped after roof slab collapse at Kannauj railway station

Uttar Pradesh, Jan 11: At least 23 people were rescued, while several others remain trapped under the debris following the collapse of an under-construction lintel (roof slab) at the Kannauj railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The incident occurred around 2:39 pm during beautification work when the shuttering failed.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Asim Arun confirmed that the collapse took place during the construction of a new terminal at the station. "Twenty-three people have been rescued, 20 of whom have suffered minor injuries and are receiving treatment. Three individuals are seriously injured and have been referred to Lucknow for further care. Rescue operations are ongoing as more people are feared trapped under the rubble," he stated.

Local authorities, along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), are coordinating the rescue efforts.
