Udupi: Department of Student Affairs, MAHE Manipal inaugurates One Nature - Animal Welfare Club

Udupi, Jan 13: The department of Student Affairs at MAHE Manipal (Manipal Academy of Higher Education Manipal) proudly inaugurated its new initiative, the One Nature - Animal Welfare Club, on January 10. The event, held at the Interact Hall KMC (Kasturba Medical College), witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and dignitaries.

The program was graced by the chief guest, Dr Shubhageetha, a renowned gynecologist from Sonia Clinic, who emphasized the importance of fostering compassion for animals and integrating welfare practices into our lives. Dr Raviraja N S, chief operating officer MAHE Operations who presided over the function, underscored the role of educational institutions in nurturing awareness about animal rights. The guest of honour, Dr Giridhar Kini, shared his perspectives on community involvement in animal welfare and encouraged students to actively engage in this noble cause.

The event began with a warm welcome by Dr Geetha Maiya, director of Student Affairs, who highlighted the objectives of the One Nature club and its significance in aligning with the values of sustainability and empathy. Achala, student counselor and master of ceremonies for the event, ensured the program flowed seamlessly.

The One Nature Cub's vice president, Anjana, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty, and students for their support and encouragement.

The inauguration was attended by Heads of Institutions (HOIs), deputy directors of student affairs, counselors, and a large number of students. The club aims to promote animal welfare through activities, campaigns, and community outreach programs, fostering a sense of responsibility among the youth towards co-existing with nature harmoniously.

The event concluded on a positive note, with attendees reaffirming their commitment to the cause of animal welfare and the sustainable coexistence of humans and animals.
