Kasargod, Jan 14: The vibrant two-day event, Kalosthav 2025, concluded on January 12 at the Kayyar Church grounds, leaving an indelible mark on the youth of the Kasargod vicariate. St John De Britto Parish, Narampady, claimed the championship title, while Workady Parish secured the runner-up position. Kayyar Parish finished third in this exciting cultural fest.
The event celebrated youth talent with a variety of competitions, including music, dance, comedy, ramp walks, and more. Participants showcased their skills, competing for attractive prizes. Esteemed judges from Kasargod and Mangaluru evaluated the performances.
Fr Ashwin Lohit Cardoza, director of ICYM, Diocese of Mangaluru, inaugurated the event. The opening ceremony was graced by notable guests, including Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld Media Group; Vencita Dias, film actress; and Dr Melwyn Pernal, professor, Nitte Engineering College.
In his inaugural address, Walter Nandalike praised the youth of Kasargod, stating, “Events like Kalosthav are the best opportunities to showcase your talents. Raw talent, when honed with time, practice, and persistence, will shine brightly. I congratulate all participants for their dedication.”
Fr Ashwin Lohit Cardoza, in his presidential speech, emphasized the role of such events in fostering creativity and providing a break from routine activities for the youth.
The closing ceremony, presided over by Fr Stany Periera, featured distinguished guests including Stany Bela, production director of Daijiworld; Ashwin D’Costa, film actor; Reema Dias, contestant from Bigg Boss Kannada; and Winston Sequeira, president of the ICYM Central Council.
Fr Periera expressed his delight at the event’s success, encouraging participants to take part in cultural competitions in Mangaluru and beyond. “Tough competition helps in growth and makes victory meaningful,” he remarked.
Stany Bela, reminiscing about his own experiences in Kalosthav competitions, commended the efforts of Fr Vishal Monis, the visionary behind the event. He lauded the leadership of ICYM and CKYM for organizing Kalosthav and urged them to make it an annual feature in the Kasargod Vicariate.
The success of Kalosthav 2025 is credited to the tireless efforts of Fr Vishal Monis, Sr Severine D Cunha, Melwyn D’Souza, Neema D’Silva, Roshan D’Souza, and many others, who received well-deserved appreciation for their contributions.
This year’s Kalosthav was a resounding success, celebrating the rich culture and youthful energy of Kasargod.
