Toyota's December Sales Up 151 percent


New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS): Japanese automobile maker Toyota Sunday reported an increase of 151 percent in its sales for December 2011 which stood at 15,948 units.

"Despite challenging market conditions and unfortunate occurrence of Tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand, the company has seen good sales," Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director, marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said in a statement.

According to the statement, the company's sales in 2011 grew by 82 percent and stood at 136,150 units.

The company said that the sales of Etios passenger car series topped the yearly tally - with 43,313 units of Etios sedan and 20,262 units of Etios Liva hatchback, respectively.

"The Innova, Fortuner and Corolla Altis followed with 51,930 units, 10,946 units and 9,283 units, respectively," the statement said.
