Udupi, Jan 18: To tackle the growing traffic congestion in Udupi city, MLA Yashpal Suvarna has submitted a request through MP Kota Srinivas Poojary to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, seeking the construction of a flyover at Kalsanka Junction under the National Highway Authority.

Kalsanka Junction, a critical point on National Highway 169A, connects important areas like Udupi Sri Krishna Math, Manipal, and Ambagilu. Due to heavy vehicular movement, especially on holidays, the area frequently experiences severe traffic jams, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.

Recognising the urgency of a permanent solution, MLA Yashpal Suvarna has also proposed tabling a resolution in the upcoming city council meeting, urging the central government to approve the flyover project.

In response to the request, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary assured that he would meet with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with MLA Yashpal Suvarna, soon to push for approval of the project. The objective is to expedite action and resolve the traffic issues at Kalsanka Junction, ensuring a smoother commuting experience for residents and visitors.
