Mangalore: Accidental Fall – Man Crushed Under Train Wheels

Mangalore, Jan 4: Krishnamurty (51), son of the late Ramamurty from Karmayi in Nekkilady, in Puttur taluk, lost his life in a freak accident which occurred at Mangalore Central railway station on the night  of Monday January 2.

Krishnamurty wanted to board West Coast Express train bound for Chennai from the city. The scheduled time of departure of the train is 9.30 am. As soon as the train driver began to steer the train on its platform, there was a rush among the waiting passengers to board the general compartment and secure a seat. Krishnamurty, who was caught in the melee, slipped and fell on the tracks. He was critically injured as the train was still moving back. He was admitted into Wenlock Hospital here immediately, but he breathed his last thereafter, it is learnt.

A case in this respect was registered by railway police.
