Panaji, Jan 23: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital on Wednesday to discuss various developmental initiatives in the state. During the meeting, CM Sawant briefed Shah on the progress of ongoing projects and sought his guidance.
“Called on Hon'ble Union Home Minister and minister of cooperation Amit Shah Ji in New Delhi today. Briefed him on various initiatives in the State and sought his guidance," Sawant shared in a post on social media platform X.
Earlier, CM Sawant held discussions with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, urging an enhanced share for Goa in the devolution of taxes under the 16th Finance Commission. This proposal aims to accelerate the state's development and economic progress.
"Called on Union Minister for finance and corporate affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman Ji, in New Delhi. During our discussion, I reiterated Goa's demand before the 16th Finance Commission for an enhanced share in the devolution of taxes, a key proposal aimed at fostering the state's development and progress," Sawant posted on X.
On Monday, CM Sawant visited Government College in Sankhali, where he reviewed several projects along with Education Secretary Prasad Lolyekar, Director of Education Bhushan Sawaikar, and officials from GSIDC, WRD, SAG, and PWD.
During the visit, he directed the SAG and PWD to expedite the completion of the playground rooftop. The Chief minister also reviewed the maintenance, cleaning, and operations of the canteen at the Veerangana Girls' Hostel.
Additionally, CM Sawant emphasized the completion of pending work at the hostel and reviewed the progress of the new postgraduate block at the college. He further discussed strategies to enhance student placements and improve safety and security measures on campus.
