Mangaluru, Jan 25: The National Voters' Day celebration at Carmel School, Kotekar, was a momentous occasion, held with great enthusiasm to raise awareness about the significance of voting and the democratic process. The event was designed to educate students on the importance of voting as an essential civic responsibility.

The day’s programme began with a soulful prayer song, followed by a vibrant welcome dance, setting a lively tone for the event. Manasvi and Riyona delivered a heartfelt welcome speech, outlining the essence of the occasion and its relevance.

Students from Grade 3, Huda, Charish, and Thanush Diyola, took the stage to speak on the importance of National Voters' Day, emphasizing its crucial role in maintaining a healthy democracy. This was followed by an engaging vote dance, where students showcased the power and impact of voting through a creative performance.

The highlight of the celebration was a thought-provoking skit performed by the students. The skit featured a teacher explaining the significance of Voters' Day, with students responding with insightful answers, demonstrating their grasp of the concept and its implications for the future of democracy.

The chief guest, Soumya Sharath Shetty, principal of Sri Narayana Guru College, graced the occasion with her keynote address. In her speech, she underscored the importance of voting, the legal voting age, and the critical need for active participation in the democratic process. She shared real-life examples to make her points more relatable and impactful for the students.

Following her address, Shetty administered an oath to the students, encouraging them to understand the power of their vote and their responsibility as future citizens to exercise this right when they come of age.

The event concluded with a lively dance performance by the students, which was followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Mithali, acknowledging all those involved in making the celebration a success.

The celebration was honored by the presence of principal Sr Pramila D'Souza, AC, vice principal Sr Ashwina AC, and coordinator Sr Anitha AC. Neeksha Shreehan did a commendable job hosting the event, ensuring it flowed smoothly and left a lasting impression on everyone present.

The national voters' day celebration at Carmel School was a resounding success, inspiring students to recognize their role in shaping the future of the nation by exercising their right to vote responsibly.
