Mangaluru, Jan 26: The primary students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, celebrated 76th Republic Day on January 25 with great enthusiasm and patriotism. The event was hosted by grade I students. It began with student Eion portraying Dr B R Ambedkar, who reminded everyone of the importance of Republic Day, celebrating our Constitution that upholds the ideals of justice, liberty and equality.
The celebration commenced with a solemn prayer, invoking the blessings of the Almighty. A vibrant welcome dance, symbolising unity and joy, set a warm and respectful tone for the event, and the chief guest Leeza Kiran Rodrigues and all present were graciously welcomed.
The programme continued with a skit that creatively highlighted the rights and duties of citizens. Three fundamental rights - Right to Education, Right to Freedom and Right to Equality were effectively portrayed, with each accompanied by captivating dance performances. Additionally, two important duties, caring for nature and helping others, were emphasised, inspiring the young audience to embrace their responsibilities as citizens.
A special moment of the celebration was the garlanding of the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar by the chief guest, the school administrator, and the coordinators.
The chief guest Leeza Rodrigues then addressed the gathering with an inspiring message, encouraging the students to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution.
Jonathan, Jianna and Sharvari welcomed the gathering while Ananya and Sushaan delivered the vote of thanks. Thasmayee welcomed the chief guest with a sapling. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with a deep sense of patriotism and pride.
