Udupi, Jan 27: The Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC), MAHE is pleased to announce the 9th edition of the MV Kamath Endowment Lecture, scheduled to be held on January 27 at 2:30 PM in Luminaire Hall, Hotel Valley View, Manipal. This year, the distinguished lecture will be delivered by Shekhar Gupta, renowned journalist, founder, and editor-in-chief of The Print.

The MV Kamath endowment lecture series is annually organized by MIC to commemorate the legacy of Dr MV Kamath, an illustrious journalist, Padma Bhushan awardee, and former chairman of Prasar Bharati, who hailed from Manipal. Dr Kamath's life and work continue to inspire journalists and media professionals all over India, and the lecture series serves as a platform to continue his legacy of promoting critical thought and discourse on media, society, and public life.

This year's lecture promises to be an insightful session as Shekhar Gupta would be speaking from his decades of experience in Indian journalism and the nuanced understanding he has of the contemporary socio-political dynamics. Known for incisive analysis and in-depth reporting, Gupta is a voice of credibility and expertise in the media landscape.

He is an award-winning journalist, columnist, author and talk show host. In 2017, Shekhar became the founder and editor-in-chief of ThePrint, India's fastest-growing new media platform known for its non-hyphenated journalism.

In his nearly five-decade career, Shekhar has reported on key events, including trouble in India's Northeast, Operation Blue Star, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the first Gulf War from Baghdad, Sri Lanka's troubled decade of 1983-1993, and has done more than a dozen tours of duty in Pakistan.
