Mangaluru, Jan 28: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School celebrated the 76th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The event commenced with a grand welcome for the dignitaries, led by the school band marching in perfect synchrony, creating an atmosphere of pride and unity as they escorted the guests to the stage.
Riyan D’Silva of class 7D extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, Sameena, a distinguished member of the Mangalore Bar Council Association, an anchor at Face News, and a part-time Islamic teacher at Red Camel School. The headmistress, Jositta Noronha, formally welcomed the chief guest with flowers.
The event was graced by the presence of headmistress, Jositta Noronha, assistant headmaster, Liya D’Souza, parents, teachers, supporting staff and students.
The programme began with a soulful rendition of the prayer song, ‘Vande Mataram,’ which set a reverent tone for the day. Following this, Jositta Noronha led the dignitaries to the flagpole, where Sameena had the honour of hoisting the National Flag. The unfurling of the flag was met with great respect, followed by a salute and the singing of the National anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana,’ and the flag song ‘Jhanda Uncha Rahe Hamara.’
Students of class 7 eloquently highlighted the significance of Republic Day, emphasizing India’s journey towards becoming a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.
The school choir then performed a melodious and stirring patriotic song, ‘Hum Bachhe Azad Watan Ke Aandhi Se Takrayenge,’ which resonated with the audience, evoking a deep sense of national pride and unity.
In her inspiring speech, Sameena extended her heartfelt wishes for a happy Republic Day and spoke about the importance of the Constitution, which enshrines the values of justice, equality, and fraternity. She emphasized the need to understand and uphold the fundamental rights of every citizen while following them diligently in daily life.
A graceful dance performance by the students, cantered on the theme of patriotism, added a vibrant and colourful touch to the event, leaving the audience mesmerized.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dhanraj and Sanjana, who expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
The event was seamlessly compered by Lionel Shawn, Valen Peter Serrao, and Manoj Gehlot, whose coordination and presentation skills were commendable.
