Mangaluru: Technical glitch delays flight to Dammam; passengers stranded overnight

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jan 29: An Air India Express flight (IX 885) bound for Dammam, Saudi Arabia, was grounded due to a technical issue, leaving passengers stranded overnight at Mangaluru International Airport.

The flight was scheduled to depart on Monday night, and passengers had already boarded when the pilots detected a technical problem as the aircraft separated from the aerobridge and moved towards the apron. The cabin lights went off, prompting concern, and the passengers were subsequently de-boarded and shifted to the airport lounge.

The aircraft was declared ‘airport on ground’ and moved to the designated stand for further inspection. Meanwhile, passengers were given the option to either stay at the airport, return home, or check into hotels, with the airline covering all expenses. Some passengers opted to reschedule their journey.

As per reports, passengers were accommodated on another Air India Express flight that arrived from Dubai, and they departed for Dammam at 7:20 am on Tuesday.
