Goa board schools to align with CBSE calendar; academic year to begin from April 1

Goa, Jan 30: The Government of Goa has announced a shift in the academic calendar, directing all government, government-aided, and unaided recognized schools in the state to commence the new academic year from April 1, starting from the 2025-2026 session. This change applies to students of grades 6 to 10 and grade 12.

To ensure smooth implementation, the following guidelines have been issued:

•    Classes for the specified grades will be conducted in April, with school hours scheduled until 11:30 am.
•    Summer vacation for these students will be observed from May 1, to June 3.
•    Regular school timings will be followed from June 4, onwards.

School authorities have been instructed to take necessary steps for the timely commencement of the academic year on April 1. Additionally, the circular must be prominently displayed on school notice boards to inform teachers, students, and parents about the revised schedule.

This directive has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
