Bangalore, Jan 8: In a bid to boost road safety and as a warning to recklesss drivers, the state government has decided to cancel the licence of those who cause road accidents thrice, informed home and transport minister R Ashok.

Due to the increasing number of road mishaps and accident deaths it is very important to introduce this stringent action for violating the rules and reckless, careless driving. Even the use of mobile phones while driving has resulted in several mishaps, he said.

These days, accidents account for more number of deaths than other factors like illness. One of the prime causes is also the intake of alcohol while driving, which in many cases has ended up causing grave damages, he noted.

The minister also said that if the auto drivers do not install digital meters within 15 days strict action will be taken against them.
