Udupi, Feb 2: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has strongly criticized the opposition for their disapproval of the Union Budget presented by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Speaking about the Congress-led Karnataka government’s stance, the Lok Sabha Chief Whip accused the state administration of deliberately obstructing the implementation of central schemes. He challenged the opposition to specify which aspects of the budget hinder the state’s progress and urged them to cooperate in delivering central government initiatives to the people.
“The Karnataka Congress government has been actively blocking central schemes. For instance, under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the central government provides Rs 6,000, while the previous BJP-led state government contributed an additional Rs 4,000, bringing the total to Rs 10,000 for farmers. However, the Congress government scrapped this Rs 4,000 benefit as soon as it assumed power, causing injustice to farmers. Is this not a betrayal of the farming community?” the MP questioned.
Highlighting other welfare programs such as the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Mudra Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat scheme, Kota Srinivas Poojary alleged that the Congress government is neglecting their proper implementation. He criticized the administration for prioritizing political interests over public welfare and misleading the people for political gains.
He further stated, “Instead of pointing fingers at the central government, the state government should first rectify its own shortcomings and ensure that central schemes reach the beneficiaries effectively.”
