Seoul, Feb 2: A new survey revealed that 41% of foreign medical tourists chose South Korea for treatment due to the country’s cultural appeal. The survey, conducted by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, shows a growing trend among international patients who are increasingly influenced by South Korea’s culture when seeking medical services.

This marks a significant rise from 24.3% in 2021, with the number climbing to nearly 50% in 2022 as the country emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic. Patients from Southeast Asia and the Middle East were particularly influenced, with nearly 70% citing cultural reasons for their decision.

In related news, South Korea has launched its annual winter shopping festival, the Korea Grand Sale, aiming to attract foreign tourists and boost spending during the off-season. The 45-day event, running until February 28, offers discounts on flights, accommodations, and retail items, with participation from 1,680 South Korean retailers.
