Udupi, Feb 3: The annual feast of Stella Maris Church, Kalmady, was celebrated with devotion and religious fervor on February 1 and 2.

Fr Dr Jencil Alva, Diocesan secretary of the office of doctrine and faith, was the main celebrant of the festal Holy Mass, along with Fr Charles Menezes and other priests from the deanery who served as co-celebrants.

Fr Dr Jencil Alva in his homily on the presentation of Jesus said that “We should seek blessings from Mother Mary and learn how we, along with our families, can connect with God. We should love and follow God's message.”

Fr Baptist Menezes, the parish priest, expressed his gratitude to all the priests, parishioners, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the celebration. He also thanked everyone who gathered to participate in the joyous occasion. Blessed candles were presented to donors who contributed to organizing the annual feast.

On Saturday, February 1, Vespers were celebrated, with Fr Rickson Monterio, assistant parish priest at St Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, serving as the main celebrant for the Holy Eucharist prayers.

Fr Rickson Monterio in his homily said, “Let us embark on a holy pilgrimage and build a holy family within the Church through the Word of God. Let us feel and live in God's love, and spread that love to others while sharing His word.”

Procession of the chariot of Our lady of Vellankanni was also held as part of the vesper’s celebrations.

A large number of parishioners and devotees from neighbouring parishes attended the festival Holy Mass and shared in the joy of the event.
