Udupi, Jan 10: Balakrishna Parkala, President of Nethaji Sports Club, Parkala and the employee of Manipal University and his wife Girija, Asst. Teacher, Govt. Composite School, Volakadu, Udupi were selected to represent the Karnataka State Master’s Athletic team in the 33rd National Masters' Athletic Meet to be held at Kanteerava Kreedangana, Bangalore from 22nd to 26th Feb 2012.
Both of them were taken part in the State Master’s Athletic meet held at Sir Vishweshwariah Kreedangana on 7th and 8th of Jan 2012. Balakrishna Parkala has bagged gold medal in 5 k.m. walk, Bronze medals in 200 and 400 meter runs. Girija has secured silver medals in 5 km run and 5 km walk and bronze medal in 80m hurdles.
Earlier, both of them were represented Indian team in the International Masters' athletic meet.
