Mangaluru, Feb 10: St Agnes College proudly hosted its highly anticipated Alumni Day, themed 'Agnesian Day at Home' on February 9. This event brought together a vibrant tapestry of the Agnesian alumni community. The annual celebration provided a wonderful opportunity for former students to reconnect, reminisce, and honour the shared legacy that unites them with their alma mater. The atmosphere was infused with joy and nostalgia as alumni from various graduating classes gathered to rekindle friendships and share stories about their journeys since leaving college. This day was more than just a reunion; it was a heartfelt tribute to the enduring spirit of St Agnes College.

The chief guest of the occasion was Dr Geralyn Pinto, a retired associate professor and head of the department of English at St Agnes College in Mangaluru. She is a creative writer with a focus on short stories and poetry, having been recognized for her work nationally and internationally, including winning prizes in creative writing competitions. Dr Geralyn Pinto has published five independently researched scholarly papers, showcasing her commitment to academia alongside her creative endeavours. She has received multiple awards for her short stories and poetry, highlighting her talent and impact in the literary community. These works showcase her versatility and depth as a writer.

Dr Geralyn Pinto was felicitated by the lifetime achievement award for all her achievements. In her address she remembered the time spent in the portals of St Agnes and expressed her thankfulness to the Almighty for the second chance granted to her which as an individual made her a fearless fighter and emerged as a strong personality. She thanked all her previous principals and her colleagues and was grateful to her Alma Mater for all the love and support received during all these years from this esteemed institution.

The merriment comprised followed by a delicious breakfast, spirited games and a delightful fellowship lunch. The festivities kicked off with Sr Dr M Venissa AC, the principal of St Agnes College who welcomed the gathering. With her characteristic eloquence, she expressed happiness to see all the Agnesians gathered at the venue. She was deeply humbled with the gathered alumni, out of which many of whom felt a renewed sense of pride in their connection to the college. The significance of Alumni Day was beautifully illustrated through special dance performances by the talented students, setting a tone of celebration for the day ahead. 

As the formal programme progressed, Vidya Shenoy, an Ex-Agnesian took on the role of master of ceremonies, skilfully guiding the audience through the various segments of the event. The warm welcome extended to all attendees created an inclusive atmosphere, fostering a sense of belonging among the alumni. A heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered expressing gratitude for the alumni's ongoing support and involvement in the college’s initiatives. This acknowledgment highlighted the importance of community and collaboration in nurturing the college's mission and sustaining its legacy.

The celebration effortlessly morphed into a captivating entertainment segment that enthralled the audience. Spectacular dance performances by the present students and the Ex-Agnesians highlighted the unity of an Agnesian, igniting a sense of exuberance and enthusiasm among the attendees. As the event gracefully culminated, attendees converged for a sumptuous luncheon, featuring an exquisite array of culinary delights that tantalized diverse palates. Alumni Day 2025 emerged as an unequivocal triumph, brilliantly showcasing the indomitable spirit and unwavering pride of the St Agnes alumni community with over 250 Agnesian attendees. As the day gracefully waned, many departed with hearts brimming with cherished memories and a revitalized commitment to remain interconnected, ensuring that the illustrious legacy of St Agnes College flourishes for generations to come.
