Ground-breaking ceremony held for road concretization to Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte

Mangaluru, Feb 10: The ground-breaking ceremony for the concretization of the road leading to the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, was held on Monday. The event was officiated by MLC Ivan D'Souza, under whose initiative the project has been sanctioned through a special grant from the chief minister’s fund.

The ceremony commenced with a prayer service led by Fr Stifan Perera, director of the shrine, following which MLC Ivan D’Souza officially carried out the ground-breaking ritual.

Speaking on the occasion, MLC Ivan D’Souza emphasized the significance of the Infant Jesus Shrine as a spiritual powerhouse in the district, attracting devotees from all communities. "When so many people visit this sacred place, it is our responsibility to ensure they have proper facilities, including well-maintained roads. This project is close to my heart, and I am committed to ensuring its completion in record time," he stated. He also expressed gratitude to chief minister Siddaramaiah for approving the project and recalled the leader’s visit to the shrine a few years ago.

Corporator Naveen D'Souza, along with fellow corporators Keshava and James, and former corporator Sabith Misquith, expressed their appreciation for the initiative. Also present at the event were contractor Srijith, Fr Domnic Vas, parish priest of Bajjodi, and other dignitaries.

The road concretization project is expected to enhance accessibility and provide greater convenience to the thousands of devotees visiting the shrine.
