Mangaluru, Feb 10: Father Muller College of Physiotherapy hosted the 'Pearl Jubilee Cup' intercollegiate physiotherapy badminton tournament at the FMMC indoor stadium, in celebration of its Pearl jubilee on February 8. The event, which featured 21 colleges from Mangaluru and Bengaluru, kicked off with an energetic inauguration ceremony.
The chief guest for the occasion, Dr Lourdhuraj I, principal of Yenepoya College of Physiotherapy, was joined by an esteemed group of dignitaries, including Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho (director, FMCI), Fr Jeevan George Sequeira (administrator, FMMCH), Fr Ajith B Menezes (administrator, FMMCH), Dr Antony D’Souza (dean of FMMC), Fr Donald N Crasta (assistant administrator, FMMCH), Prof Cherishma D’Silva (principal, FMCOP), and Dr Kelvin Pais (liaison officer).

The opening ceremony began with a warm welcome address by Jaya P, assistant professor at FMCOP, followed by a heartfelt prayer song performed by the students of FMCOP. This spiritual performance set a positive and uplifting tone for the day ahead.
The tournament offered a variety of exciting matches across both student and staff categories, including singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The competition was fierce, with players displaying incredible skill, sportsmanship, and determination. The energy in the air was palpable as each match unfolded, showcasing intense rallies and thrilling finishes.
By the evening, the competition came to a close with R V College of Physiotherapy, Bengaluru being crowned the champions of the tournament, while Yenepoya College of Physiotherapy, Mangaluru secured the runner-up position.
Beyond the victories, the tournament fostered an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual respect among the colleges. The 'Pearl Jubilee Cup' not only highlighted athletic talent but also reinforced the spirit of collaboration and friendly competition. This memorable event was a proud moment for Father Muller College of Physiotherapy, further cementing its commitment to promoting sports, student involvement, and intercollegiate unity.
